Week 1 of Pregnancy

During your first week of pregnancy many women experience few if any symptoms at all. In fact the very first week on pregnancy you are not actually pregnant at all. Conception usually occurs 2 weeks after your period begins. This means that your period is counted as the first part of your pregnancy, even though you were not pregnant at the time. Basically week 1 begins on the first day of your period. During this time your body will produce estrogen and progesterone in order to prepare the body for ovulation.

Your pregnancy is broken down into weeks, the 40th being the last week. A baby delivered before the 37th week is considered premature. The first, second and third months are the first trimester of pregnancy.
