Week 10 of Pregnancy

At 10 weeks you are a quarter of the way through your pregnancy.  You will be feeling tired.  Some women suffer from low blood pressure which can make you tired and dizzy.

Changes in your body at Week 10 of Pregnancy

Some changes that may occur during week 10 of your pregnancy include:

  • Moodiness
  • Slight weight gain
  • Blotchy complexion
  • Gums softening or even bleeding due to increased levels of progesterone
  • Fatigue
  • Retaining fluid caused temporary long or short sightedness
  • Veins become more noticeable due to high increase in blood volume

At week 10 your baby’s brain is growing rapidly and will produce over 250,000 neurons every minute.  Your baby is now classes as a foetus rather than he embryo of recent weeks.

During week 10 of your pregnancy, your baby's brain is growing at a rapid pace. It will produce about 250,000 neurons every minute.  Your baby is complete but small at this stage and no longer resembles the tadpole of a fee weeks a go.
  
Below are typical developments which occur during the 10th week of pregnancy:

  • Ears start to assume their final form
  • Taste buds are developing
  • Distinct fingers and shoes have developed
  • Testes will start producing the male hormone testosterone in males
  • Vocal cords are forming
  • The diaphragm separates the heart and lungs away from the stomach
  • The bones of your baby's skeleton will begin to develop
  • The eyes have moved from the sides of the head closer to the front of the face and will no longer be transparent
  • The palate and the roof of the mouth form
  • Neck muscles begin to develop
  • The clitoris appears in females, and the ovaries begin to descend
