Week 25 of Pregnancy

Progressing through your second trimester, your baby is growing rapidly and you are indeed becoming more uncomfortable. You should be getting told that you are positively glowing at this stage. Babies delivered at 25 weeks of pregnancy stand a 50% chance of survival.

Changes in your body at Week 25 of Pregnancy

Some women will experience a condition called sciatica. This often happens when the baby's head presses against the pelvic bones causing the nerves in your lower back and legs to be compressed. Your uterus measures as large as a volleyball at 25 weeks pregnant.

Changes you may experience during the 25th week of pregnancy include: :

  • An increase of vaginal fluid
  • Heart beating faster
  • Heartburn
  • Indigestion
  • Constipation

Baby's Development at Week 25 of Pregnancy - Baby size: 34cm

Your baby can no longer float freely due to his or her size but can still move in all directions. Your baby's brain will be growing at its fastest rate during these and the following weeks.

Some typical developments which occur during the 25th week of pregnancy are:

  • The brain is growing rapidly, the brain cells are starting to mature.
  • Sexual organs are fully developed
  • Baby's hands are now fully developed
  • Dexterity is improving
  • Blood vessels of the lungs develop further
  • Nostrils begin to open
  • Permanent teeth high up in gums are developing
