Week 26 of Pregnancy

This week marks the end of month six, which is the last month of the second trimester. Your baby measure around 14 inches long and weights over 1.7 pounds. Weeks 24 to 28 are probably the most active for the baby in the womb.

Changes in your body at Week 26 of Pregnancy

You might find it difficult to find a comfortable sleeping postion from now on. Body pillows might be worth investing in as it will support your legs and growing belly. Napping during the day is advisable so to get as much rest as possible.

Changes you may experience during the 26th week of pregnancy include:

  • Aches and pains in the back, pelvic, sides and ribs area
  • Weight gain is increasing to approximately a pound every week
  • Heartburn
  • Intigestion

Some typical developments which occur during the 26th week of pregnancy are:

  • Your baby's eyes begin to open
  • Baby's feet are 2 inches (5cm) long.
  • The fetus makes breathing movements
  • Hands are active and can put their thumb into their mouth
  • Baby responds to touch
  • Baby’s skin is wrinkled and still translucent but may have a reddish color due to the presence of dermal blood vessels
  • Veins are visible through baby's skin
