Week 30 of Pregnancy

You now only have 10 weeks to go till the birth of your baby. About 9 out of 10 babies born now will survive. Your baby weighs around 3 pounds now.

Changes in your body at Week 30 of Pregnancy

Your uterus climbs to about 4 inches above your belly at around 30 weeks pregnant. You may find now that standing for a short period is more exhausting. Put your feet up and get as much rest as you can.

Changes you may experience during the 30th week of pregnancy include:

  • Heartburn - caused by the growing uterus displaces some internal organs
  • Back pain
  • Urinary tract infections are common
  • Baby's kicks are much stronger
  • Fatigue
  • Braxton Hicks

Baby's Development at Week 30 of Pregnancy - Baby size: 38cm

Your baby will begin to have a more rounded appearance instead of long and and the baby's skin is more pink and smooth. Your baby may also begin to move its head down to the birth position which is known as a vertex position. This happens sooner for first born babies than subsequent babies.

Some typical developments which occur during the 30th week of pregnancy are:

  • Baby can taste now - so what you eat now, your baby may develop a taste for it too
  • Langugo (early body hair) is disappearing
  • Toenails are growing
  • Skeleton is hardening
