Around 9 weeks a baby’s movement can be detected with an ultrasound scan. All baby’s fingers and toes are present.
Changes in your body at Week 8 of Pregnancy
At week 9 your hormone levels continue to increase which might bring on some of the following symptoms’ in some women:
- Fuller sensitive breasts
- Expanding waistline
- Indigestion and Heartburn
- Slight weight gain
- Food cravings Nausea
- Bloating
- Increased mood swings
- Weepiness
- PMS symptoms.

Below are typical developments which occur during the ninth week of pregnancy:
- Hair follicles and nipples begin to form
- The abdomen and chest cavities become separate
- Eye muscles and upper lip develop
- First fetal movements can be detected using an ultrasound
- The nerve cells of the retinas form in the eyes
- Semicircular canals of the ears form
- Nasal passages open to the outside
- Nerve connections from the retina to the brain are established
- The neck connects to the head distinctly
- Fingers and toes are present
- The urinary and rectal passages are completely separate
- The intestines start to move out of the umbilical cord and into the abdomen.
